Job summary

Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. is seeking a Personal Care Assistant in Redlands, CA to provide support for clients with daily living activities, mobility, and therapeutic care needs as directed by a healthcare professional.

Duties include assisting with transfers, personal hygiene, companionship, and accompanying students in school-related activities. The role emphasizes confidentiality, coordination between home and school resources, and adherence to care plans.

Qualifications

• State licensure or certification as required by state and/or program.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.
• Current BLS Card.
• Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the home, school, local health agency, and other community resources.
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals with strong communication skills; English proficiency may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides services to persons who need help with day-to-day activities.
• Demonstrates competence in performing the necessary skills and perform those skills on the plan of care.
• Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and other related support services essential to the client’s health.
• Assists with transfers and ambulation.
• Aids teacher in helping student learn and provides feedback to student and supervisors/teachers.
• Performs incidental household services that are an integral part of a personal care plan.
• In school setting, accompanies student on bus to and from school.
• Provides companionship by reading, listening and talking with client.
• May assist in supervision of students during recess and lunch periods.
• Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements.
• Assists client in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene.
• Implements behavior management techniques as directed by supervisor/healthcare practitioner.
• Appropriately reports changes in client status or as directed by care plan.
• Maintains confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients, families and employees.
• Adheres to HIPPA privacy policies and procedures.
