Job summary

Shelby Manor in North Carolina is seeking a compassionate Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our care team. The PCA provides daily living assistance, supports residents with ADLs, and helps maintain a safe, comfortable environment.

The role requires empathy, reliability, and the ability to collaborate with nurses and other caregivers. You will promote residents' dignity and independence while following infection control and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of a state-approved PCA, CNA, or caregiver training program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in personal care, senior living, or healthcare preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility).
• Support meal preparation, feeding assistance, and hydration.
• Observe and report health changes to the nursing team; monitor for adverse reactions.
• Foster companionship and encourage participation in activities.
• Maintain clean, safe living areas; follow infection control protocols; respond to emergencies.
