Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Transportation Aide in New Jersey to transport patients and specimens as requested across the assigned area. You will ensure safe patient handling, maintain clear communication with dispatch and clinical teams, and assist with routine environmental duties and equipment checks.

The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and patient-centered care. Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and strong communication skills.

• Ability to follow safety and isolation protocols during transport.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher within the hospital.
• Move patients to imaging, units, or laboratories within timeframes.
• Maintain communication with Dispatch/Modality/Unit about tasks and delays.
• Handle patient support devices safely and remove unsafe equipment.
• Obtain supplies from central supply when needed.
• Follow PPE and hand hygiene protocols during transport.
• Use two patient identifiers to verify patient identity.
• Transport specimens or blood products as required.
• Assist with environmental duties and recycling/trash disposal.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and standards.
