Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking a Transportation Aide to transport patients and/or specimens across units using wheelchairs or stretchers, ensuring patient safety, accurate chart handling, and timely communication with Dispatch and units to maintain throughput.

You will follow isolation protocols, assist with supplies, and help with environmental duties while demonstrating compassion for diverse patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Utilizes social skills and communicates appropriately to alleviate fears and/or anxiety of the patient and provide the Best Healthcare Experience.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher, ensuring safe handling to prevent falls.
• Transports patients to/from units or imaging within expected time frames; carry along patient chart.
• Communicate with Dispatch/Modality/Unit to report receipt, changes or delays to maintain throughput.
• Handle patient support equipment safely; remove unsafe or unclean items; exchange oxygen tanks when needed.
• Transport specimens to the laboratory and deliver blood and products promptly when applicable.
• Follow isolation protocols and PPE use; identify patients with two identifiers; follow protocol for patient expirations.
