Job summary

UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital, Inc. seeks a Patient Care Technician to join the Med Surg Unit. This non-exempt role supports the care team by monitoring patients, communicating changes to the RN, and assisting with daily living activities, mobility, and safety.

You will perform vital signs, basic tests, and specimen collection, and help with treatments under supervision. The position offers a structured environment, opportunities to precept, and potential signing bonus

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30‑days as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high‑risk patients.
• Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulation, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients by utilizing proper safety techniques.
• Takes and records vital signs and measures patient weights/heights.
• Performs EKGs, Point of Care tests and bladder scanning; collects specimens for lab transport.
• Assists RN/LP with treatments and prepares equipment and supplies.
• Maintains patient safety and follows unit policies and safety procedures.
