Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for full-time day shifts. The PCT provides patient care, assists with activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion/removal under the direction of the RN.

• HS Diploma or Equivalent or listed education programs accepted by Sentara for PCT role.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care, supports activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion/removal under RN supervision.
• Observes and documents patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports changes to the nurse or medical staff.
