Job summary

Ochsner seeks a compassionate Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff in delivering safe patient care under supervision. You will assist with plans of care, maintain a clean environment, and document tasks while communicating effectively with patients and families.

Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma, telemetry experience, and BLS/CPI/CPCT-A certifications within 30 days of hire. Must be adaptable to a 24/7 schedule and demonstrate strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Certifications: BLS, CPI, CPCT/A to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• Must be proficient in data entry and use of computer systems.
• Flexible work schedule including 24/7, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assists with plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of practice.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on age-appropriate criteria.
• Communicates patient care needs with patients, families and staff.
• Completes documentation of patient-related tasks.
• Maintains professional certifications and knowledge.
• Adapts communication and care to patient population and privacy standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
