Job summary

WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Technician to support licensed staff in delivering high-quality patient care at the Parkersburg campus. You will assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, vital signs, hygiene, and comfort measures while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include observing patient conditions, communicating with RNs about changes, and assisting with specimens, nutrition, and basic administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet one of: Nationally certified patient care technician; Completion of WVUM Patient Care Technician program; Current CNA certification issued by state where services are provided.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assist the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist with personal hygiene and comfort measures; document intake/output.
• Assist in specimen collection and activities of assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to RN and assist with diet changes.
• Support department operations with administrative tasks and answer call bells.
