Job summary

US Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Nursing Assistant (NA) to support the nursing care team in preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance, and hospice care under a licensed provider. The NA assists with daily living activities and contributes to the Veteran's treatment plan, recovery, and wellness while mentoring peers.

Applicants pending required education or licensure may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until requirements are met.

Qualifications

• 1. Ability to assist in the full range of nursing care to patients/residents under the direction of a RN/LPN.
• 2. Ability to communicate orally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team.
• 3. Ability to recognize and respond to emergent care situations and intervene while waiting for assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff in care of patients/residents.
• Perform activities of daily living and provide a range of care contributing to the treatment plan, recovery, and wellness.
• Mentor/educate peers within the nursing team.

Education

One year above high school with courses related to health care or a bachelor's degree including 24 semester hours of health care courses
