Visiting Angels in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support seniors with daily living tasks and companionship. The role offers training opportunities in dementia and Alzheimer’s care, with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered home care.

Responsibilities include medication assistance, mobility support, personal care, meal planning, light housekeeping, and acting as a trusted companion in the client’s home and community.

Qualifications

• Passion to serve others and be a true caregiver.
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Good time management and strong interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home or during appointments
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance when possible
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them while shopping
• Perform light housekeeping tasks
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies
