Job summary

Phelps Health is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses in a 240-bed hospital setting. The role emphasizes safety, infection prevention, and accurate documentation to support clinical decisions.

You will assist with daily patient needs, vital signs, and basic activities, working closely with nursing staff to ensure patient comfort and safety while delivering quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year experience preferred in patient care.
• CNA certification preferred; BLS within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Follows hospital safety policies for infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Provides basic patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse (RN/LPN/shift manager).
• Assists with vital signs, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing, and activities.
• Documents patient care accurately to support clinical decisions.
• Communicates pertinent patient information to team members to improve outcomes.
