Job summary

The Bettendorf Community School District's Edison Academy in Bettendorf, Iowa, seeks a paraeducator to support students in a flexible, relationship-focused learning environment at an alternative high school.

You will work with teachers to help students achieve academic, behavioral, and personal success while building positive relationships and maintaining professional standards. Hours are up to 5.75 per day with a $19.42 hourly rate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in a school setting is preferred.
• Experience supporting students with diverse needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in providing instructional support to individual students and small groups.
• Build positive relationships with students while encouraging academic engagement, responsibility, and personal growth.
• Support the implementation of classroom expectations and behavior support strategies.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in a professional manner.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, families, and the public.
• Demonstrate flexibility, patience, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Participate in required training and professional development opportunities.
• Must have valid U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or an active work visa.
