This role emphasizes infection control, nutrition support, and collaboration with nurses and other staff. Must have a high school diploma and BLS certification; on-the-job training to obtain BLS if needed.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure: BLS required; 30 days to obtain after hire.
• Skills: read, write, do basic four-function math.
• Knowledge: medical terminology, basic computer skills, interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs and report unusual observations to the nurse.
• Collect specimens for analysis and record intake/output.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Perform basic clinical procedures under nurse supervision.
• Support patient nutrition by assisting with meals and room service.
• Maintain safety and infection control practices.
• Assist as patient safety attendant after competency.
• Aid orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Perform other unit-based duties as assigned.
