Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Nursing Assistant at the GS-5 level to support licensed staff in providing comprehensive care for Veterans across acute, sub-acute, and chronic settings. The NA will assist with activities of daily living, participate in treatment planning, and help monitor patients under supervision.

The role requires ability to communicate with patients, families, and the care team, and to recognize emergent care

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or education related to NA work.
• Completion of a 4-year health-care-related bachelor’s course may meet requirements.
• English proficiency required as per VA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the full range of nursing care under RN/LPN supervision.
• Provide care in multiple settings (outpatient, inpatient, home, CLC).
• Document care, observations, and patient responses in medical records.
• Monitor glucose readings and refer deviations to health care staff.
• Serve as preceptor/mentor to new NAs and coordinate orientation.
• Participate in treatment planning and maintain a safe, clean environment.
