Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting the care plan across acute to chronic conditions in a VA setting.

Candidates must meet basic NA requirements, maintain professional communication, and be capable of working in a team to support veterans’ recovery and wellness goals.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship is required unless otherwise allowed by VA policy
• English language proficiency required
• Experience or education meeting the NA grade prerequisites per VA Qualifications Standards
• Various KSAs including patient observation, communication, and clinical care duties

Responsibilities

• Appropriately utilize glucose monitoring machine and document readings
• Maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients and families
• Observe patient condition changes and report deviations promptly
• Assist with basic nursing care and use of simple diagnostic equipment

Skills

Six months general experience

English language proficiency

Education

Two years of education above high school in nursing care or related field

Completion of an intensive, specialized nursing-related training course of less than one year
