Job summary

The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System is hiring for two Nursing Assistant positions to provide patient care under close supervision in inpatient, outpatient and home settings. This VA role emphasizes basic nursing skills, compassionate care, and safety-oriented practice. Qualified applicants will meet basic requirements, including U.S.

citizenship and English proficiency per VA standards. The full performance level is GS-5 with potential progression from GS-3 to GS-5; shift is 7:30pm–8:00am

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or education or training.
• One year of education above high school with courses related to nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform basic nursing duties under close supervision in various settings (outpatient, inpatient, home).
• Care for patients with acute to chronic conditions under supervision of a Registered Nurse or LVN/LPN.
• Initiate basic life support and respond to emergent situations.
• Collect patient data, participate in care planning, and document observations.
• Promote independence and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Attend daily huddles, complete orientation and mandatory education.
