Job summary

San Diego Humane Society is hiring for Full-Time Nursery Caregivers to join our Nursery team. You will provide daily care, medical support and enrichment for nursery animals and support the foster program, including care for 0-8 week olds and kittens with queens up to 8 weeks.

Based at our San Diego Campus, these roles offer competitive pay and benefits, with Full-Time 40-hour weeks and PRN shifts around 4 hours per week. Training and a strong animal welfare mission are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Highschool graduate or equivalent required.
• One (1) year experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter, veterinary hospital, or volunteer environment preferred.
• Neonatal kitten experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily cleaning and feeding routines, maintaining assigned area in a clean, organized and professional manner, as scheduled and in compliance of SDHS kitten nursery policy and procedures and underage kitten protocol.
• Monitor the health of shelter animals; follow established procedures if symptoms of illness arise based on the degree of illness or injury.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids and oral medications.
• Will assist as needed to restrain animals for blood draw and examination.
• Handle and nurture animals appropriately according to age and needs of the animal.
