Job summary

COMHAR, Inc. seeks a compassionate Mental Health Technician to join a recovery-oriented team in providing individual counseling and psychoeducational groups. You will support treatment goals under licensed clinical staff, respond to crises, and promote client wellness in a culturally competent setting.

The role requires assisting with daily living activities, documenting progress, and facilitating therapeutic activities within a multidisciplinary framework.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or 12 college credits in behavioral health/human services preferred.
• 1–2 years experience with mental health or substance use challenges preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required; strong reading/writing skills.
• Current driver’s license with satisfactory driving record; eligible to operate program vehicles.
• Experience with individuals with substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities (hygiene, meals, meds).
• Observe and monitor client behavior; document changes and progress.
• Support clients in implementing treatment plans and activities.
• Facilitate group and recreational activities to promote social skills.
• Assist staff with assessments, interventions, and care coordination.
• Maintain safe, supportive, therapeutic environment for clients.
• Respond to crises calmly per agency protocols.
• Advocate for client needs and participation in treatment.
