Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospitals in Bellflower, CA seeks a Mental Health Worker to support nursing staff in caring for behavioral and emotionally disturbed patients. You will take vital signs, assist with hygiene, ensure patient safety, and help maintain a clean, safe unit.

A background in patient care, BLS, and English communication are required; bilingual skills and CNA certification are preferred to support diverse patient needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Reading, writing and communication in English is required.
• Prior patient care experience or formal training is preferred.
• Assaultive Behavior Certification required by start date.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measures and records patient weights and vital signs.
• Assists with hygiene, elimination and ADLs while preserving privacy.
• Supports care by assisting licensed nurses with patient transport and specimen handling.
• Maintains a clean, safe unit environment and follows HIPAA procedures.
