Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to be the heart of our patient care support. You will greet and register patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and assist with exams under supervision.

The role involves handling billing, scheduling, charting, and basic clinical tasks while adhering to safety standards and CPR training requirements. A MA program completion or MA experience is preferred, with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant Program or six months of MA-related duties.
• One year of MA or Patient Care Associate experience preferred.
• Experience in a doctor’s office clerical tasks (insurance verification, authorizations, billing, EMR) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, register patients and direct calls.
• Obtain demographic and insurance data per policy.
• Contact insurance providers to determine benefits and patient co-pays; post payments and prepare deposits.
• Prepare patient charts and file medical records; release information as needed.
• Assist physician with examinations and procedures; prepare exam room and provide instruments.
• Take vital signs and document results in charts.
• Schedule appointments and manage referrals.
• Enter and correct billing information in the system; liaise with billing company.
• Prepare lab slips and other documentation; train new staff.
• Follow safety policies and CPR and safety training requirements.
