Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED plus a medical-assistant program or clinical rotation.
• Experience: Minimum two years of clinical experience; psychiatric or primary-care settings preferred.
• Certification: Must pass clinical competency testing and maintain required certificates.
• Skills: customer-service, communication, prioritization, math, medical terminology, and basic computing.
• Language: English fluency (spoken, read, and written).
• Ability to work independently per department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support under supervision of a licensed Nurse or Provider, including vitals, med entry, immunization records.
• Perform pre-visit chart review and preparation: identify patient needs, enter orders for labs/tests, arrange equipment, notify provider when ready.
• Conduct patient intake: document vitals, chief complaint, family/social history, allergies, medications, smoking status, and immunization history.
• Assist provider with case preparation, communicate abnormalities, and provide basic monitoring.
• Assist with basic procedures such as specimen collection, wound care, dressing changes, finger-stick glucose, POCT, hearing-aid battery changes, and simple sterile-setup for procedures like endometrial biopsy.
• Maintain inventory, restock supplies, and ensure instrument availability.
• Maintain documentation using recognized medical terminology and abbreviations.
• Identify emergencies and promptly communicate to licensed staff.
