Job summary

Penobscot Community Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant for Helen Hunt Health Center to support providers and the care team in delivering primary care visits. The role emphasizes efficient patient flow, clinical collaboration, and hands-on responsibilities in a fast-paced clinic.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with MA training or certification, BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 2 weeks), and a willingness to obtain/maintain relevant credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• MA training or certification covering essential job functions is required.
• Current BLS training or the ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire is required.
• Certification maintenance is highly encouraged and supported.

Responsibilities

• Support providers and care team in delivering scheduled acute care.
• Assist with patient care, treatments and clinical decision-making.
• Handle chart reviews, medication refills, and pre-visit planning.
• Room patients, prepare exam spaces, administer meds and vaccines as directed.
• Support quality initiatives and clinic-wide best practices.
• Collaborate across clinical and administrative teams to enhance patient experience.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

MA Certification or training

Healthcare Provider BLS certification

Certification encouraged (Initial and maintained)

Certification within 60 days (CMA/RMA/CCMA)
