Qualifications

• CNA certification required in Kansas or eligibility in training.
• Enrolled in or completed Medical Assistant program.
• Active EMT certification in Kansas.
• Nursing student after first semester with department skills checklist within 90 days of hire.
• Student in pre-med/pre-optometry/pre-PA/pre-dentistry program with checklist within 90 days of hire.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program with checklist within 90 days of hire.
• BLS certification on hire.
• Certification/registration as Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Update and file patient medical records and insurance forms.
• Take medical histories and record vital signs.
• Document medical information using electronic systems.
• Explain procedures to patients and prepare for examination while maintaining privacy.
• Collect and prepare lab specimens and sterilize instruments.
• Assist with wound care and cast care as needed.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate hospital and lab services.
• Provide basic patient teaching on procedures and medications.
