Job summary

DHR Gastro Institute in Edinburg, TX is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support both administrative and clinical tasks in a day-shift environment. You will assist physicians, take vital signs, manage patient flow, and help with wound care and procedures.

Requirements include completion of a Medical Assistant program, BLS, and good communication skills. Travel is occasionally required, and bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program required.
• BLS certification required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Must have transportation and valid driver’s license with vehicle insurance.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse teams and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic administrative medical assisting functions.
• Assist in obtaining patient history, chief complaint and vital signs.
• Schedule, coordinate, referral and monitor appointments.
• Maintain rooms clean and stocked with supplies.
• Assist physician with in-office procedures and wound care.
• Scribe for physicians as needed and assist with medications and immunizations.
