Job summary

Urban Ministries of Wake County’s Open Door Clinic in Raleigh, NC is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to deliver clinical and administrative support. This 28-hour-per-week role requires assisting providers, taking vital signs, vaccines, EKGs, and managing EMR documentation in Athenahealth.

You will coordinate patient scheduling, support volunteers, maintain exam rooms, and help ensure HIPAA compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent) required.
• BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within stated timeframe.
• Experience with vaccines, EKGs, PT/CP testing and vital signs.
• Experience with patient scheduling, EMR, and routine office tasks.
• Ability to work independently within established protocols.

Responsibilities

• Clinical and patient care: document vitals, histories, vaccines, and meds.
• Support providers during exams; prepare rooms and assist procedures.
• Perform point-of-care tests and document in Athena and NCIR.
• Coordinate scheduling, calls, messages, and patient communications.
• Maintain clinic readiness; infection control and safety procedures.
• Support volunteers and interns; orient new clinical staff.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
