Job summary

U.S. Dermatology Partners Odessa clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to support licensed providers in clinical and surgical settings, delivering safe, knowledgeable, compassionate care to patients.

Responsibilities include taking patient history and vital signs, preparing exam rooms, assisting with procedures, recording medical information, and ensuring proper consent and sterile technique in line with HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting, preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, required.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable; strong organizational skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with clear grammar and spelling.
• Interpersonal skills to support customer service and team collaboration.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as patient advocate during exams and treatments.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for physician in exam, procedure, or surgery.
• Record medical history, medications, allergies, vitals, and test results.
• Obtain proper consent before treatment.
• Prepare and administer medications under physician direction.
• Collect and process laboratory specimens for testing.
• Explain procedures, medications, diets, and wound care to patients.
• Assist physicians with procedures and injections while maintaining sterile field.
• Schedule appointments and manage room readiness and cleanliness.
• Dispatch drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Inventory and restock instruments and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and waste disposal policies.
• Respond to emergencies per policies and protocols.
• Maintain documentation of procedures in a timely manner.
