Job summary

Vita of Greenfield is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of the assisted living community in Greenfield, Indiana. The role combines hands-on maintenance with reliable resident transportation to medical appointments and activities.

The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and skilled in basic maintenance tasks, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pass background checks and drug screens as required by state regulations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid Indiana driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Background check, drug screen, and state regulatory requirements may apply.
Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
Strong customer service and communication skills with older adults.

Responsibilities

Maintain safety, cleanliness, and operation of the community; perform minor maintenance tasks.
Complete routine maintenance requests in resident areas.
Monitor grounds and ensure clean, safe, and presentable surroundings.
Monitor and report maintenance needs requiring outside contractors.
Maintain a clean and organized workshop and storage areas.
Perform safety checks and inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
Safely transport residents to appointments, activities, and outings.
Operate community vehicle(s) following traffic laws and safety guidelines.
Assist residents entering/exiting vehicles and ensure safety and comfort.
