Job summary

Vantage Care Management seeks an Activities Assistant to support residents with 1:1 and group activities, adapting activities to meet individual needs, and providing resources and equipment.

You will contribute to a positive, supportive atmosphere during recreation sessions, ensure safety, participate in team meetings, and communicate observations to staff. This role emphasizes empathy, patience, and teamwork to engage residents and support families.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm to engage with residents at varying ability levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing 1:1 and group activities with residents.
• Adapt activities to meet residents' needs.
• Provide residents with resources, supplies, and equipment.
• Provide emotional support to residents and families.
• Provide a positive, supportive atmosphere during recreation sessions.
• Ensure resident safety during recreation sessions; follows health and safety policies and anticipates hazards.
• Participate in team meetings.
• Communicate behavioral observations of residents to other staff and team members.
• Encourage resident involvement in recreation opportunities and provide necessary supports to facilitate involvement.
