Job summary

Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys in Louisiana is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our growing team. You will support attorneys throughout the case lifecycle, from intake to settlement or trial, ensuring files are organized and progress is maintained.

The role requires knowledge of federal court procedures, experience in a fast-paced personal injury practice, and strong communication with clients, insurers, medical providers, and courts. On-site 8:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, preferably in personal injury or high-volume environments.
• Paralegal certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of federal court processes and terminology.
• Experience drafting discovery is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Support your assigned attorney throughout the case lifecycle from intake through settlement or trial.
• Client Communication: Provide regular case updates and deliver a compassionate, professional client experience.
• Claims & Insurance Coordination: Initiate insurance claims, verify coverage, and communicate with adjusters.
• Document Preparation: Prepare legal correspondence and case documents per judicial procedures.
• Case Investigation & File Management: Gather intake information, medical records, and supporting evidence, keeping files organized.
• Litigation Support: Assist with discovery, trial prep, hearings, and filing pleadings.
• Calendar & Administrative Support: Maintain calendars, coordinate meetings, and manage deadlines.
• Technology Utilization: Use case management software to maintain accurate case information and workflows.
