Job summary

Empower U is a rapidly growing in-home mental health organization serving children and young adults with developmental disabilities. The Personal Care Assistant will provide hands-on support, guidance, and companionship to youth in the New Jersey area, focusing on after-school, evening, and weekend hours.

They must be dependable, compassionate, and motivated to make a positive difference for families, with opportunities to grow within Empower U across the state.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years’ experience as a Personal Care Assistant.
• At least 6 months’ experience with children with developmental disabilities.
• CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willing to travel within 10–15 miles.
• Smartphone to access HHAX apps.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to youth.
• Engage in community outings and social skills development.
• Assist with daily living activities and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate with families and team members.
• Attend trainings and meetings.
• Complete documentation and follow policies.
