Job summary

Clearview Cancer Institute in north Alabama seeks an Imaging Center Nurse to provide direct nursing care for imaging patients and support physicians in a busy outpatient setting. You will perform nursing assessments, obtain histories for CT, MRI, PET, and NM, coordinate patient arrivals and scan prep, and ensure appropriate contrast protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
• Must be licensed by the Alabama Board of Nursing
• BLS certification preferred and beneficial

Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care for imaging patients.
• Performs nursing assessments and collects history for CT, MRI, PET, and NM.
• Coordinates patient arrival and scan prep for each modality.
• Ensures creatinine within 30 days drawn for IV contrast and calculates GFR.
• Educates patients and families on scan prep and rationale for each scan.
• Obtains blood sugar for PET scans and follows glucose/insulin protocol.
• Maintains safety, quality, and infection control standards in the imaging area.
• May train nursing and support staff; may participate in research.
