Job summary

Alexandria Health and Rehabilitation is seeking Housekeeping and Laundry Assistants to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents in Alexandria, Indiana.

Responsibilities include securing soiled linen, sorting and distributing clean laundry, keeping carts and areas organized, and following cleaning schedules to support quality care. The role requires basic English reading/writing and the ability to work calmly under pressure.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing in English and ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to read/write in English, communicate with residents, families, personnel and support agencies, and stay calm under stress.
• Physical abilities including bending, lifting, walking, grasping, fine hand coordination; sense of smell, taste, temperature; hearing pages.

Responsibilities

• Secure soiled linen hampers and personal clothing from designated areas and transport to laundry.
• Maintain clean, safe, and attractive work areas with required safety signs.
• Ensure equipment, carts, and supplies are stored securely and properly cleaned.
• Sort, fold, and distribute clean laundry, linens, and garments to residents and carts/closets.
• Follow work and cleaning schedules.
• Keep equipment and supplies carts clean and stored.
