Job summary

Loretto Hospital in Chicago seeks a part-time Driver to assist in the transportation of elderly and handicapped patients to and from hospital locations. Under supervision, you will ensure patient safety and proper handling during loading and unloading.

The role requires a valid IL driver's license, basic safety knowledge, and good communication skills to coordinate with staff and patients while maintaining timely service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid IL driver’s license is required.
• Full working knowledge of security principles and hospital safety procedures is expected.
• Excellent communication skills are imperative.

Responsibilities

• Assists elderly and handicapped individuals into and out of motor vehicles, transports patients to designated areas as needed.
• Communicates patient status and problems to appropriate staff in a professional, non-judgmental manner.
• Completes pre-transportation checklists and maintains productive work procedures; assists others as needed.
• Ensures patients are informed of appointment and arrival times.
• Follows safety, infection control, and universal precautions procedures as required.
• Transports bus receipts, cash and other hospital receipts as needed.
