Job summary

Duke Health’s Nursing Assistant I role in Durham, NC supports RNs and LPNs in delivering direct patient care. The NA helps with basic care, prepares patients and supplies, records data, and participates in teaching and care coordination within the unit.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of routine and special patient care procedures.
• Ability to document and communicate information accurately.
• Ability to follow policies, protect patient privacy, and participate in emergency responses.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and assist as required.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of changes.
• Provide basic care (feeding, bathing, mobility, comfort) and assist with non-direct patient care tasks.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transportation of patients.
• Follow PPE requirements and standard precautions; maintain patient environment.
