Job summary

The Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting for several Food Service Worker positions within the Nutrition and Food Service. The primary purpose of the Food Service Worker position is to support the food service operations provided to Veterans.

Work is performed in one or more functional areas such as food preparation - dish and pot washing - dry and refrigerated storage and receiving - and the serving area.

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience sufficient to do the work.
• Applicants will be evaluated under the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Responsibilities

• Major duties include setting up and breaking down assigned station with correct supplies and food items; portioning food; preparing trays and delivering meals to patients.
• Assist cooks in food preparation; weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients; reads menus and diet cards.
• Perform heavy cleaning tasks in the food service area and related spaces; work varied schedules including weekends and holidays.
