Job summary

Signature Hospice in Bend, OR is seeking a compassionate Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families navigating end-of-life care. This PRN role invites someone called to serve with empathy, dignity, and respect for diverse beliefs.

You will perform spiritual assessments, support patients and loved ones through grief and illness, and collaborate with nurses, social workers, physicians, and clergy. A seminary degree and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate theological degree (MDiv/BD or equivalent).
• Experience supporting individuals through grief, loss, or serious illness.
• Hospice, healthcare chaplaincy, or pastoral care experience preferred.
• Ability to work respectfully within diverse faith traditions and cultures.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Valid driver’s license and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual assessments and ongoing spiritual care to hospice patients and families.
• Support patients and loved ones through illness, grief, loss, and end-of-life transitions.
• Collaborate with nurses, social workers, physicians, and other hospice team members.
• Coordinate with community clergy and faith leaders to meet patient needs.
• Participate in care planning meetings and patient conferences.
• Document visits and maintain accurate records.
• Conduct memorial or funeral services upon request.
• Help educate staff and volunteers on spiritual care and hospice philosophy.
