Job summary

Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking a Homemaker Aide to provide compassionate in-home support on Long Island. The role focuses on helping seniors maintain independence by performing housekeeping, bed making, laundry, and light cooking while reporting changes to the supervisor.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid NYS driver's license, and the ability to travel locally to client homes.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in working with and compassion for Seniors.
• Experience completing household tasks.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum, washing machine, dryer, microwave and other tools used in household cleaning.
• Ability to use computer, fax, copier and telephone.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience as a Companion, Helper and/or Home Aide preferred.
• Valid NYS driver's license required; transportation to/from client's home; car preferred; client not permitted to ride in employee vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform house cleaning in client residence including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and dishwashing and using/cleaning appliances.
• Make and change clients' beds and complete laundry.
• Immediately report any problems or changes in client needs to supervisor.
