Job summary

Right at Home in Lorain, OH is seeking a Homemaker/Companion to support seniors and adults with disabilities in their own homes. You will provide compassionate companionship, light homemaking, and personal care as trained, with a focus on safety and client comfort.

You’ll work with flexible schedules, earn weekly pay, and receive ongoing training. A valid driver’s license and good English skills are required. No formal caregiving license is necessary if you are caring and dependable.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• Sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick.
• Read, write, speak and understand English with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must have a current and valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a vehicle with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with homemaking activities (vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, dishes, bed linens, laundry, bathrooms).
• Spend less than 20% of time on general household work during shifts.
• Establish partner relationships with clients by providing companionship during walks, activities, hobbies, etc.
• Prepare meals and run errands for groceries when needed.
• You don’t have to be a gourmet chef but you can prepare a good meal and shop for groceries.
• Support clients in activities and provide compassionate, professional care.
