Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school or college of mortuary science.
• Current Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in the practicing state.
• Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Reasoning, planning, problem solving and quick application of knowledge.
• Positive attitude, drive to advance in the industry, self-motivated.
• Ability to build professional relationships and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Takes on-call responsibilities, talks with families, answers questions and schedules arrangements.
• Obtains contact details, confirms languages and emails appointment confirmations.
• Supervises handling of the deceased, embalming, dressing, cosmetics and preparation.
• Arranges and conducts funeral and memorial ceremonies professionally and compassionately.
• Negotiates funeral contracts and handles payments per policy.
• Informs families about veterans services and related options.
• Arranges interment or cremation and confirms authorization.
• Ensures compliance with licensing, regulations and rules.
• Provides aftercare and supports pre-need referrals.
• Maintains accurate documents and supports community engagement.
