Job summary

Allied Community Care in Glenn Dale, MD is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide one-to-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. You will assist with daily living activities, support social engagement, follow individualized plans, and document progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Background check required.
• Reliable transportation to travel to client homes and community activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to diverse needs and preferences.
• Willingness to assist with personal care and follow detailed support plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals in their homes and in the community.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, light household tasks, and basic academic or skill-building support.
• Encourage social engagement and community integration by supporting clients in activities such as shopping, going to the park, attending events, or participating in hobbies.
• Follow and implement individualized support plans and goals tailored to each person’s needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities, progress notes, and any incidents, including seizures or other health-related events.
