Job summary

Citizen Advocates, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs in a community living setting in New York.

You will help ensure health, safety, and daily living activities are supported and that residents participate in meaningful community inclusion. The role requires teamwork, compassion, reliability, and the ability to follow care plans, document accurately, and attend required trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with one year experience.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities/mental health needs preferred.
• Ability to travel to Albany or other locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety and welfare of residents and support daily living activities.
• Provide first aid and nursing assistance as necessary or requested.
• Lift, transfer and position residents as prescribed and monitor medications per physician orders.
• Prepare meals with residents and involve them in cooking tasks.
• Document care and programming accurately and timely.
• Follow crisis plans, attend meetings, and participate in required trainings.
