Job summary

VOICE, Inc. of Michigan is seeking Direct Care Workers to provide compassionate, person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or special illnesses. This in-person role covers home and community environments, aligned with individualized care plans.

Responsibilities include ADL assistance, medication management, meal prep, and mobility support, while promoting independence. A strong emphasis on safety, dignity, and collaborative care with families is required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in medication administration and understanding of home care medical protocols.
• Experience in memory care, dementia care, and senior care is highly preferred.
• Ability to assist with ADLs while promoting client independence and choice.
• Excellent observation skills to monitor client health changes.
• Capability to safely assist with lifting and transferring clients.
• Capacity to prepare nutritious meals meeting dietary needs.
• Compassionate, empathetic demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness according to each client’s care plan.
• Assist with ADLs, including personal care, mobility, meal prep, and medication management.
• Encourage independence and client choice in daily activities.
• Provide support in home and community settings, accompany to appointments and activities.
• Ensure safety, dignity, and well-being; prioritize client needs.
• Complete documentation and reports timely; contribute to care plan updates.
• Collaborate with families, other providers, and staff to maintain individualized plans.
• Assist with safe mobility using proper techniques.
