Job summary

HealthSource Saginaw is seeking compassionate Resident Dining Assistants to join our Long Term Care team. You will assist residents during meals and snacks, ensuring comfort and well‑being in a supportive dining environment.

Responsibilities include feeding assistance, maintaining a clean dining environment, and effective communication with the care team. Full- and part-time shifts are available, with 1st and 2nd shifts emphasized.

Qualifications

Must be at least 17 years of age with a work permit if still in high school.
Completed eight-hour state-approved Feeding Assistant training program.
Strong communication skills, compassion, reliability and respect for residents’ dignity.

Responsibilities

Assist residents during meal and snack times, offering fluids, prompting and cuing.
Greet residents and assist with mealtime processes.
Help residents navigate meal choices and document preferences.
Enter resident preferences into an electronic system and communicate with Dining department.
Monitor swallowing, intake and meal responses; report concerns promptly.
Clean up trays and dining areas; assist with meal setup.
Maintain accurate feeding assistance documentation and data.
Complete required state training and work with residents cleared for no complicated feeding problems.
Work under RN/LPN supervision; not responsible for transfers, toileting or tube feeding.
