Job summary

University Nursing and Rehab is seeking qualified individuals to join the Family in our Dietary Kitchen as Dietary Cooks. You must be able to work every other weekend and assist in all dietary department functions, including preparing and pre-portioning foods for therapeutic diets according to planned menus.

Responsibilities include handling food safely, ensuring correct portioning and temperatures, preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean workspace, and keeping items properly labeled

Qualifications

• Experience working in a dietary department in a hospital or skilled nursing facility environment preferred.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during work hours.
• Maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
• Relate and work well with all disabled and elderly residents and interact professionally with residents, family members, co-workers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all dietary department functions, including preparing and pre-portioning foods according to planned menus and diet orders.
• Handle food using proper food handling and safety techniques.
• Pre-portion and distribute food according to the planned menu and diet order.
• Ensure proper temperature of food during preparation and distribution.
• Prepare and serve food promptly and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Ensure meals and snacks are sent according to established schedules.
• Label, date, and store food properly.
