Job summary

Belle Care Center in Trenton, NJ is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare and cook a wide variety of meals for residents, staff and visitors. The Cook follows recipes, plans cooking schedules, and oversees related cleaning duties. The role may direct other food service staff in the absence of the Food Service Director.

The position offers $18 per hour with full-time and part-time options. The shift runs 11am-7:30pm, and the team emphasizes compassionate service in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak and follow written and oral directions in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in institutional food handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles and prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations.
• Prepares palatable and appetizing meals, as prescribed for the residents by the attending physician.
• Meets required meal schedules.
• Takes necessary measures to avoid food waste.
• Properly cares for dietary equipment and production sheets.
• Follows menus and special diet instructions.
• Communicates freely with the Food Service Director.
• Cooperates with other food service staff and facility personnel.
• Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
• Performs other duties as requested.
