Job summary

Phillips County Hospital in Kansas is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to help prepare meals for patients, staff, and visitors while upholding our Patient-Centered Excellence mission.

You will assemble meals, wash and cut produce, prepare drinks, load patient trays, and keep the kitchen and dining areas clean and stocked. You’ll work with the Nutritional Services team and follow safety and dress-code policies. On-the-job training is provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: Sufficient previous experience preferred, but on-the-job training provided
• Required Education: High School or equivalent preferred
• Certifications/Registrations: N/A

Responsibilities

• Previews menus and work orders to assist in the preparation of patient/staff/visitor meals with the cook.
• Wash, cut, and prepare fruits, vegetables, etc.
• Prepare drinks; make coffee, tea, infused water, etc.
• Prepare patient trays and load carts; follow cleaning/restocking schedule.
• Washes patient, staff and kitchen dishes; put away clean dishes.
• Assist co-workers as needed; wear appropriate protective equipment.
• Delivers patient meal trays and interacts with patients/visitors/staff in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Records temperatures and dates in logs; prepares salad bar and special events refreshments.
