Qualifications

• Tenth grade or above desirable.
• ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and/or pre-portions food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu.
• Utilizes standardized recipes to prepare menu items and ensures meals are appetizing.
• Delivers meals and snacks to designated areas according to schedules.
• Ensures proper quantities and portioning within established times.
• Maintains proper food temperatures during preparation and service and records temperatures.
• Serves meals to residents according to diet orders and preferences.
• Labels, dates, stores food properly, and checks logs for temperatures/sanitizer.
• Keeps work area clean and uncluttered; assists with cleaning as assigned.
• Assists in receiving, storing, and verifying invoices for food and supplies.
• Makes recommendations to improve recipes, menus, production, and service.
