Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technician to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations under radiologist supervision in outpatient and inpatient settings. You will gather patient data, operate ultrasound equipment, and provide preliminary findings to radiologists.

The role requires ARDMS certification in abdominal/OB-Gyn or cardiac sonography, BLS, and RVT eligibility within two years. Excellent communication and data-entry skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to role.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of anatomy of liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas for abdominal ultrasound.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and verify patient history and diagnostic information.
• Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers per protocol.
• Prepare and set up equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Ensure calibration and maintenance of equipment per guidelines and manufacturer specs.
• Address coding issues with referring providers and departments.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and learning mapping.
