Job summary

Great Bend Hospital in Kansas is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (CNA) for the Medical-Surgical unit. This non-licensed staff member serves under the RN, performing delegated tasks with a focus on compassionate patient care and safety.

The position is full-time days, with responsibilities including data collection, care planning, safe interventions, and documentation. Licensure as CNA and BLS are required, with OSHA and hospital policies observed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general nursing assistant functions.
• Eligibility for 16- or 17-year-olds to be hired as a PRN.

Responsibilities

• Collects initial and on-going data as delegated in regards to the health status of the patient based on chart documentation.
• Follows an individualized plan of care that promotes positive immediate and long-term outcomes for the patient/family and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
• Carries out interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes as delegated.
• Accurately documents patient response to intervention /therapy based upon expected outcomes.
• Carries out delegated patient care activities and communicates with other members of the healthcare team as evidenced by positive patient outcomes.
• For safety reasons, employees under the age of 18 are not allowed to operate or assist with the operation of power-driven hoisting apparatuses including but not limited to: floor-based vertical powered patient/resident lift devices, ceiling-mounted vertical powered patient/resident lift devices, and powered sit-to-stand patient/resident lift devices (lifting devices).
• For safety reasons, employees under the age of 18 are not allowed to provide care to patients where this is potential exposure to radioactive substances and/or to ionizing radiations.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
