Job summary

Mercyhealth in Rockford, IL seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care, monitor vital signs, and support clinical staff. You will respond to call lights, document care, and maintain a safe, clean environment across units.

Qu alifications include CNA certification and CPR/BLS within 90 days. This role emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and adherence to policies while participating in performance improvement initiatives and training new partners.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CNA program.
• Current CNA certificate in applicable state.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures.
• Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Documents care provided according to standards.
• Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
• Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
• Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs.
• Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities.
• Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator.
• Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor.
• Managing and reporting collection devices: Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures
• Indwelling catheters: care and output measures
• Nasogastric tubes to suction
• Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN
• Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN
• Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN: Indwelling (Foley) catheters
• Nasogastric tubes
• Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters
• Similar devices as appropriate
